Just To Give 3rd Gen Owners A Laugh
I had seen that a local dealer had a Vintage Red R1 93 FD for sale and it is clean inside and out and bone stock. So I sent an email to see what the asking price was and they replied with $30k!!! Mind you it has 25k miles on it but for crying out lough a 250 mile RX-7 can't even fetch a $27k price tag. Am I wrong to think it should be around $16k?
I could easily sell a 25k original R1 in this economy for $20-22k. 30k is ridiculous. However, what are you referring to that a 250 original mile fd wouldnt bring $27k, did I miss something. That is about a $35-40k car if it has that low of mileage.
For a 93 VR? The 2 most common options? lol ok.
Not to mention the fall of the economy, no its not worth 25k.
But hey, i hope he sells for 30k, maybe it WILL help the value of our cars.

Regardless of color 30k is a bit high right now. If times were better it might fetch that but with how things are right now and considering the fuel consumption of these cars and how more people are looking at that, it's a tough sell for that price. Now if they get someone to pay that much for it then they wanted it bad enough.
30K is too much. But I did see an excellent 93 stock R1 with 20K miles go for 18K one year ago. Unemployment is high and will get higher but a guy that has a job and the money will pay 18K for the same car today. Just because the economy is weak, doesn't mean he can't get 18K for his car. But 30K no way. I wish it would happen though.
Right now a guy with money may want to hold on and wait to see how bad the socialist crash the economy.

and your right. the condition of the economy should have car lots selling at about half price of what was market value a year ago.
well im only baseing that price off what ive seen in the past and off what i paid for mine. plus the value most likely differs between car lots and this forum. i think that if they found the right buyer...that car could be sold right off the lot at the price it is now.

Usually car buyers do SOME kind of research before they just throw their money at a dealer for a car.
27k vs 17k is ALOT of money, thats a big difference.
Lets say the average consumer would go on KBB (which i think is LOL), or even nada.
Base Price $6,475 $7,725 $8,750 $10,525
Mileage - 20,000 miles $4,375 $4,375 $4,375 $4,375
TOTAL PRICE $10,850 $12,100 $13,125 $14,900
Low price is poor condition with the high price being it in PRINSTINE condition.
REgardless of the fact that these prices are most likely not accurate, its just a general idea. Which every car buyer should have, a general idea. 14,900 or 27,000 for that FD? hmmmmm let me think about that.
I even was a bit giving and put 20k miles instead of 25k which probably wouldnt make a difference anyway.
Like i said, FD's CAN go for that much. For a 93 VR?? Someone would be retarded to spend anywhere near 27k for that car.
ANd for the people who think thats a reasonable price are whack jobs. Sorry.
fd's will go for what the owners value it at just take a look at the other jap supercars. the supra is one a resale of 20-40k the higher being low mileage stock ones think about it (1997 15th Anniversary owner)
Well just because wealthy people think 30,000 thousand isnt much to spend on a pristine FD, doesnt mean its worth it IMHO.
I know the value of the car correlates with what people price them at, but to a certain extent.
A 30k price tag on THAT PRISTINE FD can be sold, but then that means if another FD that is MORE rare, wouldnt be sold for more. Look at the barrett jackson, those cars are being sold for ALOT of money, because its pristine and RARE and have low miles (i assume). Thats the tri-fecta right there.
A 93 VR is NOT rare hence why it cant go for that much money. Just because it has 25k miles, that doesnt justify why it should go for that much, when there are other FD's that has more rarity to it.
I think rarity has ALOT to do with how our cars are priced, that and its reputation. I know you know about that because you have quite a good collection of cars there.
People just CANT, and WONT spend that much on just ANY FD.
Now if we're talking about a 95 R2 with like 7k miles, then o yeah, that will sell.
But a 93, VR? Come on now.

I sold a 94 R2 with 140k miles on it for $25,500.00 a couple years ago, for whatever that is worth. As I said, a 93 VR R1 with 25k miles is worth $20-22k at this time. Two years ago, it would have been a $24-25k car.
Rarity plays a big part, selling a R2 or any 94+ white fd is just as easy in this crappy economy as it was 2-3 years ago when I couldnt keep these cars around.
Most people on here base the value of fds off what they see in the rx7club classifieds, which is with out a doubt the worst place to sell a fd.
