just bought a rx-7 have a question about modifying the engine

I just bought a 1994 rx-7 it has 54 grand on the body and 800 miles on the new engine put in by mazda. i am looking to work on the engine. the car runs great now, but i want it to be a little faster, i was looking to buy a mid-pipe, but i know that i can't put it on until i get a new chip, i was woundering if anyone knew of a good site that i can get the chip from. thanx

You probably want to get a whole new engine management system insted of just a "chip". Apexi PFC is one of the best for moding with the stock turbos and such. SRmotorsports sells them but kinda pricey, you can check around on the forum for better deals... http://www.jt-imports.com/ has it for $980.

By your post I'm assuming that you don't know very much about these cars. These cars are very fragile if not properly taken care of listen to Mahjik. If you do your mods properly you will have your rotary rocket with sensible reliability. If not done properly you'll blow your engine in a week.

thanx for the info, links ill prob end up getting the downpipe first . there was a mid-pipe on sale that i won on e-bay for $135, thats why i was going to get it
