Just bought my first Rota type RZ :)
Hey guys ive been reading the forums for a while but only just signed up. I bought an RX7 series 8 Type RZ 34000km with the factory BBS rims and Recaro buckets, and im loving life.
Its pretty much stock except it has an exhaust all the way through. Would it be safe to keep the exhaust on because ive read up on the forums about spiking issues, but not sure if this is mainly for the series 6sx

Best bet is to invest in a boost controller. I blew my last engine cause it spiked one cold night of driving and I'm certain you don't want to do the same with a pretty much fresh engine.
BTW I went for a drive in a 2000 RZ not long ago myself and I loved every moment of it. Doesn't matter what any body says, the RZ is a lot rarer than the Spirit R.

Ill post pics soon, when ive washed it. I found documentation in the car tonight. Its good because it gives me a good idea of whats in the car, or might be in the car.
Trust Exhaust
Metalit super Catalyzer
Recaro seats type JS ( Dont know why you would change from the stock red ones!)
HKS Hipermax Damper Pro ( Dont know why you would change from the Bilstein?)
EXEDY Racing Clutch - Brass Button
HKS Twin Power Ignition System
By the way what boost controller do you guys recommend.

I would have to say for your car a Blitz SBC I takes the cake (I only trust Jap brands). Or if your keen get a Power FC like others have suggested and get it tuned to your intended boost level.
Why I suggest getting a boost controller before a Power FC is you aren't running a Front Mount therefore if you do get a PFC first, you'll need to pay to tune it. Then later when you decided to buy your Front Mount you'll have to pay to get it tune once again. I think the average cost of a tune in Sydney is about $300+ at some of the rotor shops.
What I've notice thought about the more rarer Series 8 is not many people modify them extensively due to resale value later. If I were you I'd buy a PFC and leave it at that as the car itself is already quick especially with that 4.3 diff.

Rotary for life!
The jap spec FD's have back seats... the AUS models, etcc don't... although you can put them in. Boost controller is the best bet... my FD is stock and i'm spiking... I need a boost controller too... posts pics in the sticky.
