Just bought my first fd!!...but its stalling.

Hey guys, I'm not new to the site but this is the first time i post. So.... wazzzaaaa??Just wondering if anyone can help me out. I just bought my first fd. It's a 93 black on tan, with no sunroof. Originally i was looking for a roller, but came across an fd with a clean title, a running engine, an auto tranny and a flawless interior (all plastics included). The cons: Odometer , speedometer, and rpms are not working. Got it for 6,000. In about a month or so i will start my ls1 swap(Please dont flame) so i need to have this car running for my daily commute untill then. My problem is as follows.

The car usually starts on the first try. I let it sit for a little to warm up. Then when i put it in gear, i feel ( i can't see the rpms) drop. Sometimes it stalls and dies. If it happens to get moving though, it drives smooth except for a little jerk when it changes gears. After a good 15 -30 mins of driving though, the car will stall anytime i stop. If i pull up to a light or a stop sign, it stalls on me and usually takes a while to get her on again.

Im no rotary expert so im not too sure whats causing this. Ive been reading and have read that it might be the tps or a vac hose.

Is it possible that i need to clean the injectors?

The car is running rich, and the oil looks light to me ( even thoguh a friend says its ok).

Another thing I've notcied is the boost gauge is reading 8 lbs on WOT and sometimes doesn't get above 2-4 lbs. What could be causing this?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know.

There's a reason why the owner sold it for 6k. Probably because he could not figure out what the problem was. Could be the engine harness but that ain't cheap like $700 IIRC. or who knows. May be TPS sensor (doubt it though), fuel pump,...

But my question is why are you so worried about it? you are going LS1 in a month anyway, so you have to have a daily no matter what. Save yourself the headache and $$ (because nothing is cheap on this car) and get your daily now. Like I said I don't think your problem is going to be a quick nor easy fix.

also don't bother with your your boost problem either. Not worth the trouble in your case.

Everybody seems to have a stalling problem when they first buy their FD

I had that problem too and it went away after I changed out the plugs, wires, and cleaned out the TB....

Ive been addicted for years!! Ill probbaly just change the plugs, get the injectors cleaned, and change the fluids. Like i said im gonnna be swapping it out soon, so im not tryign to put too much money into it.

How do i check the clutch switch?

My check engine light comes on from time to time.Any idea why?

if your tach and speedometer isn't working it will trigger the check engine light. Why don't you do a search for codes and how to pull them as this may point you in the direction of the stalling issue as well.
