Talking Just bought 93 FD and want sugestions on the upgrades!

My brother and I just purchased a 93 FD from one of our friends.
We are going to rebuild the engine and would like some BRAND sugestions on the upgrands. ie Exhaust, Intake, Intercooler ect.
We purchased the car for 3200 and want to put in about 5000 for the upgrades. Any help is greatly appreciated and any good resources for rebuilding would be great.

Hmm, for exhaust, depends on what you want..quiet, get the racing beat dual, to hear it, get HKS or greddy. For really loud, get the apexi n1. Intake.... depends, if your gonna do a fmic, than you have a choice to make. Some intakes wont fit with fmics. The greddy is one that i know of that does. Im guessing hks does also, since its similar in design. For intercooler...still depends on what you want. If you want the "look at my fmic" look than get the greddy. If you want it hidden away. Apexi fmic is a great choice. I would also look into getting an apexi power fc. They do wonders. Good luck, also, ray at PFS does wonders on fds, i would suggest him for a rebuild.

And do all the reliability mods first. Make sure your car doesn't smell like gas all the time, and smell like coolant because then you have fuel and coolant leaks like I did, and you need to fix those first before a coolant hose bursts like mine did shortly after buying the car (turbo coolant hoses). That car must have a lot of miles if you got it that cheap, so you are in for a lot of work and will need a lot of money, it all adds up real quick. It is all worth it though to have one of these cars!

Are you rebuilding the motor because it sounds cool or because it is already blown? Don't fix it unless it is broke.

Paid $3200, I'll bet it's blown (or needs rebuilt badly)

MatcoJeff:

I seriously recommend that you spend about two months reading here about these cars -- read the links in the newbie sticky/FAQ. These cars require knowledge to modify properly and will bite you and your wallet hard if you screw up. For $3200, I'm guessing the car is in fairly rough shape, with most likely a salvage title? You may have $5000 worth of repairs to do first.....

MatcoJeff, I would contact Rich and let him help you. He knows more about modding FDs than most of this board, that's for sure. And he's a helluva nice guy, too.
