You need the undertray on the car for a couple of reasons. As mentioned before, the primary role is for undercar airflow management. Only in recent years have auto manufacturers realized what racers have known for over 20 years- the air flow under car has a big impact on coefficient of drag, as well as downforce on the chassis. Ferraris like the Modena, and now the Enzo have fully enclosed underpans with venturi tunnels just like race cars. If you ever see an '87 or later 928 Porsche, take a peek underneath; it's almost entirely a series of undertrays. When Porsche first brought the 928 out in '78, it appeared to be a very aerodynamic car. Fact is, it was a brick!! When the body was tweaked in '87, a new nose cone coupled to the series of undertrays brought the drag coefficent down to a .32- or about what a good sedan does these days.

Also, the pan on the 3rd gen will force the now warm airflow from the radiator to flow through the engine compartment before exiting throught the gearbox/driveshaft tunnel, thus providing some much needed cooling in the compartment. The air may be warm, but it still has a cooling effect on components super-heated by the turbos/precat/exhaust.

Leave it on, and if you don't have one, get one.

i haven't had one since i bought my car over a year ago and had no idea the existed til just a few months ago. my car has never gone over 95*C, and that was driving hard, but i still want one so i can run even cooler and get those much needed aerodynamics. i just have too much to replace right now, so i can't justify the extra to get it as of yet, i'll let everyone know how much of a difference it makes when i get one

The other day I took the tray off to clean it and I pulled the foam off of it because it looked beat, well after I started driving it, it would start to get hotter with the foam strip off. Would this cause the car to run that much hotter or do you think I got other cooling problems?

Yep. The reason for the foam strip is to help seal the undertray to the bottom of the radiator. Without that seal, the airflow will see a nice open gap to flow through, rather than the radiator fins. Replace the foam as soon as you can.
