jsut changed plugs and wires
i just picked up my very own rx7. well i wasnt sure about the plugs and wires so i changed them. well the motor is only 2K miles old and they were all black(some brown too). i think that they had too much build up for just 2K miles. that is if the mechanics replaced the plugs and wires when they replaced the wires. my guess, HELL NO. it was a bitch none the less. i know what to do next time. running stock NGK's all around and MSD wires. putting the fuel filter in tomorrow and then the tranny and differential on my next day off. did my oil change today too. well, it still sounds rough at idle like it originally did. you can hear it in the exhaust. its idles fine then it PUTS. idles and PUTS. just like before the change of plugs and wires. also, i did not get the 3K hesitation before the plugs and wires and now i am getting it. what causes this? is there a way around it? well, all this work, and its worth every penny, just to enjoy the car that i have been dying for. oh yeah, my koyo radiator, defi boost and water temp gauge, turbo timer are on their way. should be here monday and i get to tear everything back apart and spend the day cussing at my car. just wait till i try silicon hoses. grrrrrrrrrr

thats not paint....
These cars have weird idles.... I think the put sound your hearing is just a muffled backfire. I get that all the time, its just a little more distinctive with a Downpipe & Midpipe. The 3K hesitation is a common problem, people seem to say grounding helps. I figure why help it when you can just get rid of it.... go with a new ECU like: Apexi PFC, AEM, or Haltec. Since I got the PFC it stopped all hesitation.

i dont really want to go through the problem of tuning the stand alones. i would really love the power FC, but no one around here knows anything about them. im thinking of just the simple plug and play from pettit. the unlimited computer that they have will support everything i need for a few years. that is unless i find a good deal on the power FC. thanks for the response though.
