JDM and USDM gear ratios

i was wondering is there a different between JDM and USDM gear ratio? if i'm not wrong, it has too. because the speedometer on the JDM read 180 km/h and USDM 180 mph.

Most "JDM" FDs ran the same 4.10 (manual) and 3.90 (auto) rear ends as the "USDM" FDs. High performance models in later years ran a 4.30 (manual only). The 5th gear in the tranny of the performance models is also slightly shorter than the "USDM" tranny.

*takes out the popcorn and waits to see more drama *

And slightly back on subject - so we (Manual USDM) have a 4.1 Final Drive, while some (performance models) have 4.3 as well as slightly shorter 5th. Am I with you all so far? If so, anyone know what the gearing are for said models; specifically 5th - i'm assuming that 1st - 4th are the same based on what has been said.

correct, JDM 5th's are .806 from a USDM .719...with 17" 99 wheels, 4.1 and a JDM tranny, this combo limits you to a top speed of 180mph.

seems fit given the range on the speedo

95 actually, in the RZ and Australian SP.

They were never used in the r2 or r2 bathurst - both of which are optioned down bargain specials (check the original pricing)
