JDM UIM & LIM. AWS & DTC delete

Years ago I did the silicone vacuum job on my car. At the time I removed both the Double Throttle Control & the Accelerated Warm up System. I made block off plates to cover the holes. Worked great, looked like ****.

Last year I bought another UIM to use as a guinea pig. I ground off the AWS flange & removed the bridge from the Double Throttle Control plates. Then I had the whole works welded up. I was pretty happy with the results. Plus I now had more room under the UIM for the rats nest hoses.

I did some research & I bought a UIM & LIM off a JDM FD. What's the difference? Well to start the JDM UIM has no AWS so it has no flange to grind down. Plus the LIM has no EGR valve so the manifold is cast without the extra passage for the EGR.

I removed the Double Throttle Control plates, the bridge between them & ground the flange for the actuator off. Off to the welder to seal everything up & the rest is history.

Did it add gobs of HP? As much as red anodized parts do I suppose.

For your viewing pleasure............

Sorry, I don't have any pics of the LIM. I had the UIM off for maint when I took these shots

Looks nice and clean. And from someone who is used to seeing all the factory chaos under there, the extra room has to be a plus.
I suppose if you want the full monte, you could have dremeled out the caste bridge between the two middle port tube thingies like I've seen some do, supposedly for better air circulation.
