Im looking to buy a jdm tranny for my fd but will it hold 500hp?

 

No different than any other FD transmission because they have the same gearing.

There is nothing special about stock JDM parts, they are just out a Japanese junkyard instead of a US one.

 

What about from the RZ models, don't they have a different 5th and other updates internals?

 

Those slight changes have nothing to do with torque capacity.

 

I was actually trying to piggyback on the thread and was acually asking a question. They stopped selling the 589's in the US years ago. Kouki's are the 590's. correct? 590's = Newer 5th gear, synchros and the spindle? I don't know for sure if they updated the ball and needle bearings. Can anyone verify with fact? Then there is the Zenki (565's) version.
