JDM harness with PFC in a USDM FD?

Ok, I know this question had to of been asked before but I can't find it using the search button. I guess i'm not using the right key words or something but I typed in a bunch of different word together. I may be new on this forum but I'v been on others for a couple of years. I'm not a noob to forums. Not tring to be an a$$hole.

Ok on to the question, I bought a FD rolling shell and in order to save time and money I think i'm just gonna buy a JDM front clip. Now I know that the JDM Harness wont reach the USDM ECU since there on different sides of the car but Does the PFC come with any wires or would I still have to lengthen the JDM harness to reach the PFC? Now since all PFC's are JDM i'm guessing that its a direct fit to the JDM harness?
Under the hood of both a JDM and USDM look the same so is it hard to just swap everything over to the USDM engine bay other then just labor actully doing it. I admitt I didn't search for this question but If you know the answer, please chim in.

Thanks for any help in advance. I hope I enjoy this RX-7 as much as I did my SC300 and I Hope i enjoy this forum the same way.

The issue with the JDM harness is the ECU is on the opposite side of the car. Electrically it should be damn near identical (that's why we can plug JDM PFC's into a US car and it works well with few mods (cut the wires)) but there are some unknowns with using it. If you plan on using it, I hope you're skilled with electronics and can PROPERLY modify wiring harnesses.

But, in general, if you have a shell you're trying to make a car again, you've got a big job ahead of you - dunno how familiar you are with FD's, but you'll have to learn one helluva lot to assemble a running car. Also, JDM front clips are total pot luck - you may not get a good motor, or have other damaged components.

Anyhow, hope all goes well for you. I also had an SC300 5-speed, BTW - VERY happy the day I sold that thing, it's SO not a sports car and the SC forums were filled with morons.

I use to repair arcade video games so I'm skilled with wires. I've never touched a engine harness but its still gonna just be wires so it should be the same.
My FD just need basically everything under the hood. The body is in great shape and the inside is too. It looks like who ever owned it before me was in the process of stripping it to repaint the whole car the right way. IDK though.
Thanks, I hope is goes well too, lol.
I loved my sc300! I was planning on buying another to swap the 2JZ-GTE into but I found this FD and decided that I'll play with it for a little while. The SC forums are ok, they have alot of people that judge quickly but this forum isn't any better. You all are quick to flame someone or maybe just quick to flame me,lol.(not talking about this thread)
Thanks for the info

You have to extend the wire for the cooling temp gauge. On the jdm harness the harness wraps around the firewall in the engine bay and then goes through the left side of the car. You can either pull the wire out of the harness and route it to the sensor, the wire might be long enough. Or you can just extend it, it think its a yellow wire. I think i had to reuse the us rubber seal on the harness. The jdm one was facing the wrong way.

The jdm harness that i had had a different wiring for the connection to the body main harness. So i had to repin the connector to the body harness. On the jdm harness that i worked on, there was an extra brown wiere that i had no idea where it went. I just take that one up. So basically you need th US one to compare to the jdm on. And on a few wires the color codes were different. Take your time and dont rush it. Or you might be tracing down some really funny electrical problems.

Since you will be running the pfc and you dont live in CA, the you dont need to add any extra connectors for the emissions equipment. And you dont have to remove any pins for the pfc. Since it never came with the jdm harness.

If you had to run the full us emissions, it will be a bit harder. You will have to add the extra connectors for the acv and egr. Splice or add the power wire for the connectors nd then run wires to the ecu plug.

While you're wiring this up you might want to do the PFC check engine light mod. the later models don't have emissions so you wouldn't even have to worry about it.
