I believe the FDs in Japan do not have to be made in 1998 to have side markers.. I have seen them on most of the eairlier models.

all JDM FDs have side markers. The three common varieties are orange (OEM), frosted white ('clear'), and clear ('crystal').

Got these from Thailand. Cost me $5. Was wondering whether I should go back to the orange OEM one. I have those too. Came with the car.
BTW when I got these from Thailand they said it was for the Miata.

It doesnt have any US model car has the same side marker as JDM FD does, because FD is just RARE, right ? In fact, i m thinking about to get sth close instant. Perhaps, i might get the latest p5 or mpv.

btw: does any one have a picture of FD which has close shoot of side marker ?

THX S.

These are off a Protoge or MPV van I don't remember which...it was whichever was cheaper

As for the pics, yea the forum has a max size you can upload. Once you get larger than 100KB, you need to find your own website to host the pics, then click on this button above and insert the link, and the pic will come up.

Try www.photobucket.com or www.villagephotos.com. They're both free.

Yea they work fine (cheap copies $5). I'm switching back to the OEM ones for sure. Just need to clean it up a little.

Are these side markers surface mount or is there a recessed area on the JDM fenders?

The side markers are a surface mount from factory.

A few more questions... how is it mounted? How many holes need to be drilled? What wires would you need to splice into?

Hey Don. I dunno about OEM, but the ones we do in the US, there are no holes for drilling. You gotta cut the fender...make a cutout of the shape, then put the sidemarker in. Needless to say, DON'T try it yourself if you're not adept at these kinda things, cuz if it's even the slightest bit too wide, you're screwed lol. Oh, and I just spliced the wires to my 99spec combo lights aka turn signals.

Thanks for the info Ramy. What did you do with the front bumper side lights? Is that the wires you used?

I can take off my side marker and take a picture of the OEM holes and my OEM side markers. I can also make a template of the original hole. However, how do I send the template?

Good, i want to see the picture of how to make a hole on the fender.

BTW: does the P5 and MPV side marker is little smaller than the jdm fd side marker, when i look at the actual side marker compare with the picture of jdm fd, it looks smaller on US dm P5, mazda 3, and mpv

Yeah its a cutout, not a drilled hole or holes. It would be pretty easy to make a template from the side marker if you have one now
