Jdm engine / U.s engine

Probably a stupid question, searched and heard it was only trim and bullshit. But to ask my question, Im looking for another motor and will I have to do modifications if I get a JDM motor from japan versus one that came in a car meant for the united states.

I am looking to take just the core as my core isnt doing so well and is ready to be pulled out and I am going to use all my parts that were on that core.

So will I run into problems?

Thanks.

if you strip both down to short block and transfer over all accessories, no...

if you want to just "drop in" a JDM engine... no, some things need to be changed modified...

you're better off looking for a known good REW shortblock for cheaper than a JDM engine.

You can then use the old block as a basis to have a solid rebuild done

Well I have pulled all my accessories off and the motor is ready to be pulled, I am just waiting to go rent a lift and have a helping hand to help me pull the motor/tranny. I plan on using JUST the shortblock from a donor engine. My turbo and everything is fine and I am just going to reuse them.

Thanks Prodigy, thats what I was wanting to know, I wont be using any of the existing parts on the motor if it comes in a long block.

Whats your price shipped CR? Ive just began looking. Thanks.

Shortblock is the same. Keep in mind that most of the JDM engines you see on ebay are blown or were drowned in the Tsunami, there is a reason none of them come with a warranty. They are all just used engines.

Yeah, I am aware of that and that is one of my concerns. Im trying to pick up a core from someone on this site, or possibly take my core to Banzai because I am actually located close to you.

Hi Dan,
I have a 3 blocks.

Unknown mileage good compression 1500

10k miles reman w/ good compression 1950

New housings and rotors (low rear compression) 1750. This was John Magnusons old engine and he just had it built for his race car but during his 1st event with it (rally in NM) he got some bad gas and lost compression. Apex seals rotors and housing look and feel good. Even the irons could be new but for sure the rotors and housings are.

Shipping should be around 200

Thanks,
Fritz
