OURs as in the U.S. is right. The Jap FDs handle better than ours. Hence why it kicked the Skylines butt on a road race. A lot of people around here have that video. It's a 99+ FD vs R34 GT-R vs 2 NSXs vs 2 EVOs. The FD pulled and stayed in front. The skyline pulled infront of everyone else and stayed behind the FD. Poor lil GT-R couldn't pass the FD

Now, is that the distinction that the 99 FD pulls better on the skidpad or did 93 J-spec FDs did better than US-spec?

Brush up on your "HOOK-UP" Japanese too...unless you don't want to get laid...
How much power are you expecting from that setup?? Thanks for the tip on "hook up" japanese lol, I'll need to look into it more.

yeah they mean the fastest as in on the track, not the drag strip. They have a "Super lap challenge" where they go on Tsukuba. Fastest time right now is 57 something seconds by cyberevo's evo VI. RE's car should be able to pass it soon, few tweaks of the aero and suspension should do it. FD's are designed for handling, not dragging....

David [/B]
Yea I kinda figured, but they didnt compete the Super lap challenge nor was it on Tsukuba raceway.

And to answer someone who mentioned it earlier, Nagata-san (smokey(?)) heads Top Secret. Ame*-san heads RE Amemiya and Tarzan Yamadas a racer in the JGTC/GT300 class.

That almost 500 lbs. difference is because of the all wheel drive system. I wouldn't race a GT-R in the rain, but a stock one on dry road and lots of highway in front of us...He's got me at the bottom, but top end I'll walk all over him

not trying to rain on anyones parade here, because i love FDs with all my heart and i would do anything to get my hands on that "perfect" one... but have you see the rest of that video? there were many tests performed before that race and frankly, the FD didnt fair too well. they did acceleration tests 0-400m, they also did a little autocross course on dry pavement, and then another autocross course on wet & dry mix, there were other tests held on public roads concerned with conering as well. granted the FD finished mid pack most of the time, but still, i was dissapointed with its performance against the GT-R and NSXs... they also did another race just like the one where the FD wins, and the FD started last, and then finished 2nd to last... the race that the FD did win, it started 2nd, because the starting order of that race was determined by 0-400m acceleration... the slowest car started 1st, and the fastest car (GT-R) started last... the FD pulled one position while the GT-R passed 3/4 cars... i was dissapointed when i saw all of that, but i would still take an FD over any of those other japanese beasts... (however that R34 would be a close 2nd)

and p.s... thanks Ted for the video! i didnt even realize it was an hour long until i finished it!

I think RE went crazy........this car is oh soo damn nice
SuperStreet calls it "Japan's Fastest Street Car"...
now dont get me wrong......but im very glad to own a FD3S......especially if they have one in JAPAN that is faster than all others on the street.........it even beats a R34 Skyline

the car is soo secret......RE wont let out on any of the numbers the engine is pushing out

check out the magazine.......by the time i will try to scan these pics in
Where have you been for the last month?
The car is not secret at all. It has been run in countless circuts in Japan. Also it's on countless Japanese RX-7 maganzine. The car is pretty much a open book. It's been photo in and out, from top to bottom. Every part on that car has been listed.

SuperStreet say it's secert, probably they didn't even do their home work and too stupid to ask.

If you remember well, they test the RX-7 type RS against the top model NSX and Skyline. BTW, AWD always have advantage in drag race. Also they never put the best driver in the RX-7.

that is true about the type RS, but what else would they have used? i was under the impression that besides the spirit R (which may have not been available at the time of the video), the RS was pretty much top of the line... and obviously the 0-400m race is geared more towards AWD cars... and the thing about not putting good drivers in rx7s, well thats just hear-say really... you cant prove something like that and then if you would try, judging who is a better driver is more of an opinion than anything... some drivers work better with different types of cars. in the bestmotoring vid i was reffering to, some of the drivers really dissed the FD, while some also complimented the weight distribution, handling, and top end...

RZ is the top of the line. Not RS

While there's all these people from Japan here maybe we should ask if the manual still says not to use synthetic oil

FDokinawa, what do you guys do in Japan? I mean I know you all are from the US, in the navy or airforce or something, I can't exactly remember.. But, how did that all work out. Did you just join, do some work with them for a few years, then asked to be stationed in Japan? And like do you have to work for them there, or do you just live there and work like a normal job or something? Are you ever on call or what? Just curious btw..

I have an original Efini manual for my JDM car but it's printed in ENGLISH! Anyway there's no mention of synthetics. Take that how you will....
