I recently purchased a 3rd Gen equipped with a J&S knock sensor and monitor. When first I start driving the car in the mornings I notice that 2-3 red lights on the monitor will light up on light throttle (even blipping throttle on heel & toe). Is this normal?

Mine does the same thing.

I was told that the sensor is picking up the sounds of expanding metal as the engine warms up.

Once your engine is warm you should the 1st and mabey 2nd LED light up on a high load, high rpm, full throttle run. Anything you see when off throttle is most likely a false reading induced by some kind of noise (backfire etc).
