I'm running one on an otherwise stock car. I didn't install it, but there were no problems with the installation, everything was straighforward, and it doesn't intrude at all. I have it set to a pretty high sensitivity level, so that I'll just get one light (2 degrees) occasionally at WOT, but the vast majority of the time it doesn't do anything. I can't really assess the value, I mean, my motor hasn't blown so I guess its working . I can say its a very high quality unit and it is VERY sensisitive, it will pick up even the slightest knock that would normally be way too small to hear, although its not guarenteed to save your engine, I do know of engine's that have been saved due to one.

Thats the perfect setting and exactly how it's supposed to be set.

I consider it insurance in the event of a bad tank of gas or other unforseen mishap. Kind of like a guage that will respond to a problem in case you don't react fast enough.

Mainly if you see it retarding on the display then at least you know to get off the throttle untill you check out your car.

The more mods you have, the lower the sensitivity will need to be set. So you need to readjust it after increasing boost or power.

Adjusting it is the hard part because you can only properly adjust it if you are certian that your car is not knocking. Therefore, I put some 100 octane in the tank when adjusting it.

You also get a lot of false warnings when the engine is cold or after the turbos have cooled down. For instance if you stomp on it after idling at a light it indicates knock then it reads normal again after the turbos are heated up.

It's an expensive product but I don't know it the AEM EMS or the PFC have equivalent knock control.

I used to have the J&S. It doesn't work. When it goes off, you already have pinged. TOO LATE!
And the morons at Mazda put a stock knock sensor on the front rotor housing. And as most of you know 99% of the time a apex seal breaks first at the rear rotor. Spend your money on a good tuner instead...
