Question J&$ knock sensor. How to tune it?

hi pals, I just bought and installed a J&S knock sensor.

It only retards the timing -I think because the noyse-when I go to 10 psi and full sensibility set, why?

When I installed the microphone bolt, following the directions -until 15 lbs using a torquimeter-, a space remains between the engine block -rotor housing- and the bolt, is a little space. Is this the problem? I donīt think so. What about you?

Written on the directions J&S says that the switch #2 is for retard one OR retard all pistons and that i should set it in the position retard one but, on my unit that switch is marked with a NA normally aspirated -down- and FI forced induction -up- . What should I do?

using FI, I can see more retard than in NA position.

J&S electronics: www.safeguard.20m.com

Thanks for your advices.

Full sensistivity is too much. I have mine set less than half way. Its at about the 11 o'clock position. I have a different model than the one shown on the link you posted though.

Well mine is a new version but not so new like the ones you saw.
You saw the V1 AND V2 models, mine is the VO, that no has the map sensor. Outside is the same, blue anodized aluminium.

What is the rev limiter function in yours?

RexTech, I set my sensitivty to about the 11 o'clock position this worked out great for me. I don't see any retard except in the morning on cold start. The reason it retards, is that I did not hook up the yellow wire to the TPS. I did this, so I can tell if the unit is working or not.

About the yellow wire:

The installation directions says that you need to conect the yellow wire to the TPS or MAP because the unit need a signal of 2.5 volts or greater for activate, is like a trigger. In a 2 bar MAP sensor 2.5 volts is equal to 0 psi of boost or half throttle in the TPS.

J&S says that if you no conect this wire, the unit will never work.

Maybe this is a new way of operation for J&S knock sensors.

Question

Do you think that I had to set full sensivity because the bosh sensor is not touching the rotor housing? you know, there is a little space between both surfaces.
