This sort of thing really pisses me off. Did you catch the guy who drove off? Can you claim it on insurance and let them sue him?

Since I never saw him do it and he denies it I'm stuffed. It also happens that my excess is the same as the new bumper.... I could also tell you about the muffler shop that was to take out a siezed exhaust bolt and blew my motor for me or my Soarer GT that came back with an 8 blade fan when I took it in with a 10 blade fan - ahh the memories!

You are an Australian too? I always assume dollar figures posted here are in US$. I got a price for a rear bumper from Mazda while I was pricing the bits for my car and got a price of AU$1150. The other prices I got were:

Front bumper $1438
Bonnet $1810
Inner guard $174
Headlamp lid $108
LH Guard $519

The front guard seems quite cheap to me considering that a crappy plasticy electric mirror switch was $475.

Anyway, I suggest that you claim the bumper on your insurance and let them chase the guy who has no money. You shouldn't lose your rating and might get your excess back.

I like the rex how it is so I don't think I'll make any modifications (except I'd like new wheels). I'm going to pay the difference myself and get the entire car painted. I've had it for six weeks of which it was getting a new engine for 3, getting run in for 2, now I'll have to wait 2 weeks before the insurance company gets there act together and probably another 2 or three before it is fixed. Oh well, it will be worth it in the end
