Bullshit.

Where can you buy a S2000 for 7K? The guy is looking for help diagnosing his problems. It's a RX7 FORUM (that's what people do), and you come in with your lies. Please.

CaliDream: You have smoke coming out of where the turbos are. Did you check to see if your inlet pipes are loose? If your turbos are blown the smoke will pour out of that area (and loose connections).

I don't know why you have it coming out of the interior vents though. (Hood closed? when this happened?)

Just another thing to check.

Also, when you 'suck' in the Marvel Mystery or Seafoam into the UIM, you will see smoke come out of that area if you have loose inlets/ypipe? connections.

Are you sure the 'exhaust' popped? Or was it closer to the downpipe? (Somehow I'm thinking its turbo related and not engine related, but like I said, hard to tell from just words).

I checked all of the piping around the turbos. And when the exhaust was comming into the interior the hood was closed. And when I heard the popping sound, it seemed to be comming from underneath the car somewhere near the downpipe area.

What ECU do you have? How do your plugs look? Are you getting spark? Fuel? Comprssion test is not that hard. You can buy a cheap-o compression tester at the parts store and return it when your done even. I'd probably swap out plugs and maybe the wires before doing anything else. Check all these, if no success then take it to a real rotary shop.

Why even post? SImple really, if you have nothing meaningful to post then dont... or use the PM feature.

wReX, you seem to be jumping on me in almost every thread. I appreciate your advice, but you don't have to be a jerk. Nothing's going on tonight, so I'm just hanging out, bro.

No offence, its not just you trust me. New folks just need to be reminded of the rules, happens every day and has been for the past 4 yrs. Just ask that you think a little before you hit the submit button and ask if what you are saying is really important, should be said in a PM, or shouldn't be mentioned at all.

Oh okay. I just wanted to wish the guy good luck and remind him to post the diagnosis in case I encounter a similar prob. Sorry for being a newb.

I had a similar problem with my car. It would turn over and then after 5 seconds it would start and it would shake like a ****. I would have to rev it up to 2500rpm for 30seconds to keep it running and then it would idle fine; but while reving it would smoke (black smoke) real bad. What it was is my injector was stuck open thus flooding the car and having a hard time starting it. Thats my experience anyway. After that I upgraded my secondaries and got newly rebuilt primaries and now my car runs like a champ!!

That statement stinks of hipocrisy....

Anyway, Ive never had a similar problem, possibly pull the Fuel Pump relay, and crank the engine. That should clear it of fuel (search flooding, there may be other ways to do it also).

I would advise anyone who is new to the FD - and not a mechanic in profession or skill - to take the car to a real mechanic for diagnosis.

If you do not have someone nearby who you trust and is willing to come help you out, this is even more important.

At worst, the dealer (or other mechanic) will charge you for a couple of hundred in diagnostic fees, but then that fee might be better than the cost and heartache when you really screw up something because you don't know what you are doing.

If you find a good dealership (they are few, but they do exist) they should be willing to give you good advise in hopes of getting more of your business in the future.

I know that you have already purchased you car, but anyone considering the purchase of a FD should also set aside a lot of money in the first year for all the unknows that will come up while you are trying to figure out the car.

Good luck.

i really dont understand some of u rx7 guys. you pay a premium for a car that is ages old and is not reliable. and then you guys complain when it breaks down. no duh, it will break down. its a 13 yr old car and it was not even reliable when it was new. the money you sink into an fd could buy a 00 s2k with much more modern technology.

You are right, people here do need to look outside the box for a change. All i have to say is that there is no other feeling than driving such a rare well known sports car. Sure its old and a PITA sometimes but hey, it makes you feel good sometimes. Sort of like going out with a pornstar, sure she can screw you good and she'll look like a perfect 10 but then she also screwed many other guys too. There are ups and downs to everything. Your s2k is known to be reliable, its a honda. But i still much rather have the FD than to have a car that i see 10 times a day IMO.

Hey, CaliDreamer, did you ever get a diagnosis from the shop? How did it go? Is the problem solved, and what was the problem?

I know this is completely off topic, and I know I will get flamed for this but....Boost>Vtec .Have you ever felt the boost in an fd?
