Interior question
I've got a '93 touring with the tan interior which I will be converting to black this weekend. The question is how to best remove and replace the carpet, especially where it covers the transmission hump where it goes under the dash? I've got the seats, center console and all the panels out of the car already. Is removal of the entire dash necessary to get the carpet out and back in? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do it right, do it once

You could cut the old carpet out and cut the new carpet and tuck it under the dash if you were doing a quick and dirty job. This IS NOT the way to go IMHO, please don't do it this way.
The dash actually comes out pretty easily. You'll already be taking the center console out along with the bins and side panels so just take the dash out also.
Remove two bolts on either end of the dash under the plastic end caps. Remove the two covers on either side of the dash near transmission tunnel, two bolts under each. Remove the cover under the steering column and undo the two bolts that hold the column to the dash. There is one bolt in the very top center of the dash under a rectangular cover, remove it.
I think you need to take the steering wheel off, disconnect battery, unplug airbag connectors under steering column (blue and orange), remove 3 rubber plugs on the back side of steering wheel and remove the 3 bolts, airbag will come out, unplug conectors remove (read shop manual, this is a summary of it). Remove steering wheel nut, remove wheel.
You'll need to take the shifter off (3 bolts where it mates to trans) and undo the 3(?) bolts that hold the e-brake handle to the tunnel, just leave it hanging, you don't need to undo the cables.
You can leave the stereo, heater controls, glovebox, instrument cluster, etc all on the dash, it comes out as an assembly. There are 3-4 big electrical connectors you need to unplug when the dash pulls out a few inches you can see them.
Good luck,
Jeff

Jeff,
Since I don't want to do a hack job, I'll be following your advice (and the shop manual) and taking the dash out to do this. Many thanks for your help!
