Intake Elbow Question....

Hi all,

I'm planning to get the greddy IC piping kit but I noticed something different between the greddy elbow and the stock elbow. The stock elbow has a hose attached to it while the greddy doesn't have this hose attached to it nor a place to attach to. What does this hose do?....and if I do get the greddy elbow, where should this spare hose go? Should it be capped off or what? I have also seen the Greddy intake elbows that can be bought with injector holders. What kind of injectors? I'm a bit confused. I've attached a pic to clarify what I am talking about.

Thanks,
Jason

Its for the AWS (automatic warmup system)
The AWS is what bumps your idle RPM up to 3000 when you first start it
Remove the dhort rubber hose and just cap it.
You live in GA so temps don;t get that cold anyway.
If you have a PFC it doesn't use the AWS anyway.
My contribution...regards,

01. Get a Mazda Maintenance Manual. It explains what this and many other things are. You can LEARN a lot with the manual.

02. It is the AWS(Accelerated Warmup System) source of air. The AWS is responsible for that dreaded 3000rpm cold start. If removed or blocked off, a cold engine will only rev to about 1500rpm. So do this and use the Greddy elbo. This also makes more room between that area and the firewall.

03. Do not get the one with the extra injector holders.
That is old technolgy. Now people use much larger secondary injectors or the same on custom secondary fuel rails.

I installed a greddy elbow on my car about a month ago and I originally didn't cap off the ast tube right away. about a week later I finally capped it off. I never saw any indications of oil being blown out of it.
