Like everyone else, I have the inadequate A/C system in my 3rd Gen. While a lot of posts try to fix problems with the A/C, I wonder if the issues are due to heat gain in the car and that the A/C system cannot compensate fast enough.

Let's face it the 3rd Gen's will heat the interior once you park it after any drive longer than 5 minutes. Top that off with the beating down sun and you have an oven on wheels. Interior noise on the car's are so bad too.

That said, has anyone tried to insulate their 3rd gen bodies or under carriages to reduce noise, but maybe even allow the A/C to work better? I'm thinking of trying it, but wanted to know if anyone had success doing this. Undercoating, spray insulation, bagged fiberglass, ???

To be honest, I find my car to be MUCH quieter that the FC I had. Certainly not as quiet as a Pontiac Bonneville, but MUCH quieter than a Ford escort.

Hot as hell in the sun. Thank god for a sunroof!!!

Yes, they are quieter than my 2nd gen was, so I just turn the stereo up. :-)

I know that when I went single turbo (with all the parts ceramic coated) the in-cabin temps were much cooler. I could set the A/C on fan setting 1 or 2, when I use to have to leave it on 4 all the time.

I am in the process of redoing the entire interior, so will be putting down insulation anyways - under the carpet, on the firewall, etc - since everything will be exposed.

I Lived in AZ for 3 yrs with mine and the AC worked great in the 115 degree summer heat. It was in the winter when it was 40 degrees at night and I would complain that the HEAT in the FD sucked.

Oh yeah forgot to ask but do you have a Power FC If so there is your problem. (It cycle the AC Clutch off more than stock).
