i like the lights. In fact i have a set on the car as well. Beats the original expensive defective light covers anyday. I dont have to worry about them flying off at speed anymore.

then you have not owned your car long enough.

All headlight covers begin to crack right at the back end where the tabs for the screws go.

That doesn't mean they go flying off. I've owned my car longer than most on here now and I've never had a headlight cover fly off, and they were cracked and I have done some good speeds at the tracks.

I just wouldn't make the generalization that all headlight covers will at some point fly off as that's just not true.

you're very lucky mahjik. It 's happened twice and both while going at approx 80-90kmh. The first time was pretty scarry as it went flying overhead and nearly smashed into the windshield of the poor driver behind me.

Lucky? I wouldn't say that. That's like saying someone who's engine lasted more than 60k miles is lucky. They aren't lucky, all of our engines 'should' last that long (and longer really). Its more the norm NOT to have them fly off than to actually have them fly off.

well I've had both of mine crack, passenger's side and driver's side. The headlight cover(s) stress comes from the wind resistance that is a given, there is no other load being introduced to them it is just a cover.

The covers can certainly handle high speeds that is for sure. High speed is not the killer, it is age. Plastic becomes brittle and therefore the structure becomes compromised. I drive (drove) my FD all of the time, I put over 100K on it. So it has been exposed quite a bit to the elements.

So yes IMO all headlight covers will crack and be subceptible to flying off at some point. Not due to high speeds but due to age (exposure).
