installed new brake discs and rr disc is getting hot

Recently installed new brake discs at all corners. Drove the car and the right rear disc is getting smoking hot. I checked to make sure the wheel spun free right after the install and it was ok.

Took the caliper apart and it seemed fine.

Bled all the brakes out with new fluid and have plenty of pedal with no fade.

The disc is not showing any run out axially or radially.

Can a defective caliper cause this problem? Can an issue in the ABS system cause this problem?

Thanks for help!

Chuck

How did you push back the rear caliper's piston ? Push back or screw-in ?

Also, did you grease the pins, and re-install the brake-pad spreader spring ?

Ya you'll definitely want to clean and re-grease the pins. When they get old and dirty they tend to get stuck causing the caliper piston to get stuck and cause extra wear.

Just helped a co-worker install new brakes in his nissan for this very reason.

Screwed the piston back in and greased the pins and the spring was put in place. Everything was done as it should be. Thats why Im wondering whether a problem with the ABS system could cause this issue or just a bad caliper.

give the brakes a few miles to seat in before worrying about it.
