Installed Evo-R Sleek Headlight kit, pics.

I got my kit about a week ago, had the housings painted and yesterday (my first day off in a while) installed them.

The fit is pretty good, but I had to do some minor adjustments to the brackets because some of them did not line up well.

I am happy with the kit overall and my first impression of the lighting quality was good. I was not able to drive it last night as I had to wait for the lenses to dry.

I put it up against my wife's audi a4 with xenons and it was great IMO for a halogen kit.

Here are some pics of the install and finished product.

Please tell me what you think.

P.S. Props to Jay for the nice kit!

Lighting isn't so great.. From what I read in the Group buy.
But is it BETTER or WORSE than the stock flip up?

2 more important questions..

1. The Covers are made of ????? and how scratch resistant are they???

2. How do they deal with CONDENSATION???

I'll give a write up tomorrow on the lighting performance, as far as the covers, they are lexan and should last a while. But like any plastic ( I make plastic for GE) it WILL scratch and eventually need to be replaced.

No issue yet with condensation, and I live in the most humid place on Earth. If anything changes, I'll post it.

I'm in MT. Vernon, Indiana we make plastic for GE too...If its a Mar Resistant material it will hold up decently for a while....thats what Harley Davidson windshields are made of.

no crap! I know your plant well, I am in Bay St. Louis plant, we make SAN, ABS, Cycoloy etc. Same team, pretty cool.

I was up there a few years ago for some training, Bldg 13 if I remember right.

As far as the night pics go, that may be the most frustrating thing I've ever done with my car. You can't (well at least I can't seem to) get them to come out right.

I will give my best explanation of the lights.

Keep in mind I did not use the standard bulbs that come with kit, I opted for the upgraded Bosch Cool White Bulbs (~$40 extra).

I first tested the 2 lights next to eachother in my garage and IMO the standard had better illumination/brightness however my buddy who was there at the time preferred the white look over the yellowish standard bulbs. Against my better judgement we went with the Bosch.

I first started driving to work at dusk, between the sun still setting and other peoples lights in my eyes I was not too impressed. Later in the drive they seemed better (the darker it got outside) I need to relook at the way I wired the high beams because they don't seem any brighter than reg.

On a dark road they work fine, (my windshield was dirty and this doesn't help) but they seemed a little dim when I had oncoming traffic.

If I had to rate them, a 1 being low as in almost no light and a 10 being my wife's 2003 Audi A4 Quattro with xenons (the best lights I've ever seen) and my 2001 BMW 330i with xenons as a 9. I'd rate these a even with the stock lights at about a 5 to 6.

I will uninstall them and go with the standard halogen bulbs and rerate them.

The color is great, very white and clear, they just seem to fade quicker than they should. Now keep in mind I drive mainly Interstate and often rural roads. IMO these would look less impressive in the city.

As far as outward appearance they look outstanding, I got quite a few compliments pulling up at work tonight, everone thought they were xenons but lighting performance could be better.

Sorry for the no pics but none of them are worth posting.

By the way, for owners of this kit that want to spruce up the appearance of the projectors to look a little more OEM, I found some 2.25" chrome bezels that fit on the front of the projectors. You can get them from HIDplanet.com. I ordered a pair to test it out on my lights but as I had already mounted the lights and mine were a bit too forward in the housings, I couldn't get them to fit without touching the lexan cover. I'm sure I could get them to fit perfectly but after monkeying with the lights for 2 weeks, I just wanted to get it done. If I get tired of the look, I'll probably just mount up the bezels eventually. I must say, it really polished up the look of the kit when I put them on.

Anyways, here's a link to some pics of the bezels:

Has anyone driven in the rain with these headlights??
Are they water resistant, and condensation proof???

Granted if you use enough sealant on the covers to make them waterproof.
How about the Back of the units?? is it sealed enough to keep out condensation??

thanks..
