installed boost gauge...

Bought a autometer boos gauge from RP...
I grounded the black wire to frame and brought the white wire (light) to ashtray light...so the light comes on when headlights are on. when I connected the white wire the another ashtry light wire it would dim oppositte of the rest of the cluster...hmmmm. so when i brightened the cluster the boost would dim and vice versa.

It really doesnt matter if the boost light dims or not but was curious how to fix that problem

I connected the plastic tube to the manifold per instruction and used RC model fuel tubing to connect to manifold works really good and is cheap....

boost is -17-18 psi at idle and holds 10-8-10 boost pattern although a couple of times it spiked over 12psi...

Btw, how did you all get the tube through the fire wall...what area around the A-pillar did you drill a hole and how big a hole?

thanks

great forum!

I ran my boost line through the rubber boot where the steering column passes through the firewall. You should connect both of the gauge light wires to the ashtray light (one to each wire, doesn't matter which is which), one of those acts as a ground and will allow you dim it properly.. you don't need to run the black wire on the gauge to chassis ground.
