Injector Cleaning - How were your results?

Self-explanatory. Feel free to include the mileage and how you felt a difference (more top-end, smoother idle, smoother low end)

well, do you mean a full cleaning by sending them out and having them professionally cleaned or the "dump a bottle of injector cleaner" method.

Professionally cleaned, where they also provide before and after flow test results.

Hmm, not sure if this helps, I can't talk from experience, but check these links.

My car just got a new motor (reman) and fairly new turbo's---so since there were many other changes done to my car I can't reallly comment on the difference it made. But while the motor was out I had the injectors sent to RC to get cleaned. I tried not to skim on parts that could possibly hinder the reliability of the engine ("tried" being the key word for not buying new ones).

I can't even remember the last time I've driven my FD without the worry of somthing failing in the near future (it was probably just before I started visiting the forum).
One less possible source of failure means a lot to me and I feel it wass well worth the money.

Just shipped my injectors out today to Marren Fuel Injection in Ct., so I'll report back in when they're returned. My secondaries were enlarged to 1300cc by RC Engineering back when my motor was built, and I'm suspecting that there's a problem with one of them (very rich condition that I cannot control via PFC). I mentioned to the fellow on the phone at Marren that I was sending along a couple of modified injectors, and he just sighed! Marren's feeling is that no injector should be modified- if you want more flow, get a bigger injector. Hmmmm. Problem is that with side feed injectors on the RX7, the only upgrades are top feed, and require some plumbing changes to fit them, and removal of the ACV.

Everytime that i have put in a motor i have had the injectors cleaned and tested and use new orings and seals. If your stock injectors are working fine, i would say that there would be very little imporovement if at all. I do it for peace of mind, because if i ever run into fuel related problem i know that the injectors should not be the problem. And it sucks to get to the primary injectors on the car. I've notice more improvement with on the car fuel injection service. I dont mean the bottle of additives that you put in the tank. I'm talking about when the engine is hooked up to a machine that supplies the engine with a mixture of gas and strong detergents. It cleans the injectors a little and dissolves the carbon on the engine rotors and the exhaust. I gained about 2inches of vac, the idle was smoother and maybe the car was more responsive. But i did not notice any gains in gas mileage. The car was running fine to begin with, i just did it at work one day. You should see the crap that runs out of the exhaust when the engine is on the fuel injection service machine. Nothing but black soot.

I had mine cleaned recently during a reman engine swap. The car had been running ok but the flow test before cleaning showed leaking on one of the secondaries and compromised flow on both. Perfect specs after cleaning. I will say that this engines idles more smoothly than the previous reman ever did and I don't think the injectors were cleaned when it was installed. I spent $100 for the cleaning + $ for the o-rings etc.. Worth it for the piece of mind at least. I suspect that many people will only clean injectors when changing engine or doing some other major work that would also affect the running qualities of the engine. It will be difficult to get very clean poll results for that reason. Very important topic of discussion however.

I sent mine to RC engineering when I put a new motor in so it's hard to say if the injectors, new motor, or a combination of both have improved performance. One of the injectors was leaking which was causing difficult warm starts so that problem went away.
