Question ingition breakup or fuel cut?

hey every1,
I was driving my FD this morning, and i did a WOT 2nd gear pull. Everything was 110% normal until the needle hit 8k cuz i was lazy on shifting . Then i heard the exhaust emitting sputtering noises @ a fast pace. Is this just the fuel cut or ingition breakup? i had heard FD's fuel cut was 8300. lemme know cuz im just a little curious

Do it again and this time watch your air/fuel meter. If it drops to lean its a fuel cut. If not and it stays rich as hell then it is an ignition cut. Either eway I think that is the stock redline. I know the 2nd gen N/As have an ignition cut because I was able to see what I just explained on my air/fuel gauge. Mazda would be smart if they added the ignition cut instead of the fuel cut. If it was fuel I think more people would have blown their motors.

The stock ecu has a rev limiter at 8300 rpm. If you hit the fuel cut from over-boosting, you would know it! Picture getting slammed forward in your seatbelt vs just hearing the car bounce off of the limiter....
