Inconclusive search - clear coat or not 94 PEP

Can anyone definitively tell me whether my BLACK 94 w/ preferred equipment package has clearcoat???

If not does it have the other paint protectant that I've heard that was added? Who knows???

Thanks for the help!

OK, this is going to be a unclear answer...

93 R1 and Base models in black and red did not have clear. MB, CYM and silver cars did, basically metallic colors.

93 Tourings have clear on all colors

94 PEP white cars do not have clear. If your car is a metallic color it will have clear. If it is red or black then I'd GUESS it won't have clear either.

The best way to tell is just to get some Turtle wax or any type of wax and wax the hood. If you get a little color off on the waxing pad then you don't have clear. If you don't get any color off then you DO have clear.

i guess i don't have clear then...

Hmm. the mirrors and bumpers have a different look though. Maybe it is the penetration on the plastic.. As my GS400 is silver has the same issue..

Thanks!

On Tourings with solid colors the bumpers and mirrors don't have clear coat.

My 93 R1 VR had that constant wing/mirror fade deal. Sucked. Keep it out of sunlight as much as possible

My 93 Silver Tourer w/ clearcoat had the clearcoat break up and look like *** anyway. Now its repainted and looks great.

Mazda really screwed the pooch in this department. No excuse for a car made past the 80's w/ no clearcoat... or one that peels off either.
