Impact; crash; airbag sensor fault

Airbag dash light blinks 5 times on my 93. My understanding is that it’s a sensor fault...but which one? Is there a way to ID the offending sensor out of the three on the front of the car? Or maybe a resistance check on the sensor once it’s disconnected from the control module?
A search here didn’t turn up anything and my searchable FSM isn’t available while the laptop’s in the shop. I haven’t called Ray yet on the replacement cost, but thinking that if available, they’re not going to be cheap.

You should be able to find good used airbag components a dime a dozen, the system is pretty reliable all things considered.

Found this thread -

According to that it's the front impact sensor.

Thanks for responding Dale. And yes, I found that thread and that it’s the “front” sensor...but which one? Apparently there are three, two on each side just above the oil coolers and a center one under the hood latch. Unless maybe they consider the two on either side of the front bumper “side” sensors...but there’s no separate blinking light code for those.

I would think it's the hood latch sensor. Shop manual should have some tests to check for resistance.

Has anyone had this issue and can expand on their experiences and resolutions?

Is there likely any components to check first or even look for a common loose connection?

Mine has been fine for many years, and for what I would assert is for no reason, I have started getting 5 flashing airbag lights and then a pause, then a repeat of 5 flashing airbag lights repeatedly.

Would anyone in the Portland Oregon area happen to have these front sensors by chance loose from the car to guess and check the offending sensor assuming it is the actual sensor that is causing this issue?
