Imort tuner Magazine Article True?

So I was reading this article and I just couldnt find it to be true under what I believe to be true. So they start off with a base of 230 which sounds right they add an intake and get 8hp then they add the exhaust sytem they dont spesify if its catback, hi-cat, downpipe but lets imaging that it is and they get 4hp from that with a intake and exhaust hp of 242 which is 12 above stock not hard to believe. Now this is what doesnt make sence they add a PFC and commander and they get 292 which is another 50hp!!! now what they said they did doesnt make sence. 1. they said they bumped the boost up to 14 lbs on stock turbos if thats the case2. how did they do it with stock fuel. 3.they also mention in the article that the car was tuned with reliability in mind so they didnt push the numbers, stock turbos 14lbs and stock fuel? From everything that i have heard on this forum that cant be true or reliable. Did they have some kind of super tuner? What is your guys input on this?

That FD looks pretty damn mean, I like it .

230 rwhp is strong for a stock car, I wonder if it has a fresh motor.

For comparison sake, with a fresh reman and new twins, my dad's R1 made 290 rwhp with intake, dp, catback, and 12 psi with a pfs piggyback purple box. stock main cat and stock intercooler.

Hey, I think we should be happy to see magazines still running articles on the FD

How do they have a non-sequential like power curve and still have a transition spike? LOL

And yes, SCC and Grassroots Motorsports are about the only magazines that you can trust any of the data from.

Lets just say this is a brand new set of twins and brand new OEM motor from Japan are those numbers possible with stock intercooler and fuel? 14lbs?

292 sounds a little on the high end for those mods, but like you said we dont know the extent of the exhaust. And you can do over 300 on stock fuel with a PFC. I wouldnt completely disbelieve the numbers, but I also wouldnt expect to get 292 if I had the same mods.

I ran 15psi on a purple box with the stock fuel set up for close to two years and I managed not to blow it up.

Based on the need for a 17 mm socket/ratchet combo and 17 mm wrench, along with 1 hour to do the mod, I would assume it to be a cat back only exhaust.

Why is it so hard to believe? People are so paranoid about the "stock system", all kinds of misinformation has been passed around. Try to find any thread that talks about the "stock fuel system" being weak that had any supporting numbers like max injector duty cycle.

That being said, I ran 16psi on stock turbos, stock fuel system, and pettit ecu, dynoed at 320 to the wheel (this is assuming the condition of your stock fuel system is healthy, don't try to do this with sticky injectors and clogged up fuel filter and a 13year old fuel pump. Don't blame the stock fuel system when you don't perform the required maintenance). Max inj duty cycle didn't go pass 90%, I know there will always be people stressing over inj duty cycle over 75%, if you want that much safety margin that's your choice. Ran for 2 years before going single without a problem, fuel system was only upgraded when going to single.

I ran the Pettit limited/stock fuel and Cam had me do a few small tricks (1st turbo actuator/ 2nd turbo pills) for a 12-8-(spike 16) than 14psi steady. My car ran like that for many years with no problems and would get sideways on the spike at ~75mph. Loved it

Arrow Clear things up!!!

So rx7s in the us had 230hp to the wheels or 255hp to the wheels. I'm getting confused. Efini rx7's push 280hp right?

255 is the rated hp. not ATW.

on another note: if only JeffShoots got $1 for every post he made on these forums. do you really have over 1.1 million posts?

I can believe that they "tuned for reliability" but turned the boost up for one "lets see what this car can do" run. I can also believe that they lifted the hood for that run and soaked the stock intercooler with your choice of gasses.

People won't read your articles if you don't make big numbers.

255 at the flywheel -10% lost through the drivetrain: ~230

Typical dynojet stock was 222 ish. They had a generous dyno, or it was not exactly stock.

Almost, I was asked if it was possible to get to 1 million posts?

Didn't know but figured the forum would count up so I give myself 99 thousand posts and posted for a few months.

Now I know what your all thinking and no I don't care if it counts to a BILLION

BTW: anyone gets to a million posts must get some kind of prize?
