I suggest NOT sanding the stuff off if it is a 93. Try to get it off with something that will eat it away so the underneath is still smooth. It makes it real hard for a paint guy to do unless youve sanded it perfect and finished with a high grit. Also I had mine done with car paint and clearcoat. Turned out fantastic I wouldnt paint it yourself just throw a good body shop 150 to paint it

Very cool...
What screen is that? Is that a computer screen?
I repainted all my 93 black parts...allot of work....came out great. Oven cleaner is great for taking the 93 paint off...just spray on an let it sit a few minutes and rince/scrub with a scotch pad...rub with your fingers while they are in rubber gloves..the friction peels the paint off the best...I did pretty much no sanding...ok then do that over and over again till all the paint is off....actually you'll think you have all the paint off but there is actually a pretty durable black shiny primer coat underneath the crappy paint that doesn't hold up.
I repainted with the dupont vinal primer then a flat black vinal...its a very durable finish...the primer bonds to the plastic and the vinal bonds to the primer. I used one of the disposable aersol paint sprayers to apply it...little glass jar with a aersol sprayer on top. You'll need a mask...fumes are bad. The only mistake I made was not getting quite enough black paint 1st time around...and the next batch they mixed was slightly off...so get plenty of what you need. Also I found out how to take the vinal paint off...spray on another coat and then while its not quite dry...it will peel off pretty easy...other than that it won't come up easily like using the oven cleaner. When you spray on the vinal spray you do it in like 3-4 light coats letting about 20 minutes between coats...dries to the touch quick but give it 24-48 hours before handling it much. O FYI you don't sand on vinal paint...you lightly a mean with like wet 600 grit sand the primer coat..rinse then dry before applying the vinal paint. You'll probably want to let the vinal primer dry over night before painting it...but all in all its a pretty fast process once you get the original paint off.
By the time you finish your car you'll be a pro painter and will never want to do it again :-) Also I used little strips of fiberglass to fixed/reinforce the inside of the doors where they where getting weak from old car disease...:-)
Have fun

Sorry...I see what you mean...lol. I learned allot doing painting those pieces. I was trying not to write a novel. There are definately lots of little tricks. For what your doing with that screen you have no choice I suppose but to sand alot.

Sorry. I see what you mean. I'll work on that.
I'm a long time owner/spender, a little week on the forum experience.
Back to my original question, where did you get that screen. Can I just send my panel to you? :-)
I got a little crazy and painted my avcr black as well.

Above the commander
Home brew screen I made from left over parts of another project I worked on connected via serial port to my tech edge wide band. I have two screens worth of data collecting every 500 rpm starting at 2000rpm-8000rpm. 1st column is rpm, 2nd is boost(lbs), 3rd is afr ratio, 4th is tme from last reading in 100ths sec., 5th col is TPS. Just gives me a way to do a quick pull and look down @ a couple of screens and see whats going on after the fact. I was finding it about impossible to use the display that came with it, to hard to drive and watch that thing...you know what I mean. I also have another screen that shows the AFR biggy sized for visual apeal :-)
I think that pull I nailed it at about 5000.
I'm actually going to change it to every 200rpm or every 250rpm...so it lines up more with the pfc. The micro I'm using is a little limited on memory, I've got a newer one that has quite a bit more and an extra serial port...I may get crazy and tap into the apexi @ somepoint. Since I'm not getting paid to do it, it's just a hobby thing for now.

sorry to be completely off subject, but what front end is that on your car.

it looks like the 99spec without the licensce plate holder and the front lip painted. i was just curious because it looks really nice. and that color is awesome, is that a different red besides the vintage red?

somethings are REALLY worth the money
I watched my roomate try to paint his own interior and it cracked and chipped and he sanded away for a week. Then he payed to have it done and it didnt turn out as good as it would have because he fucked up the pieces already
I just did the sanding on mine. I know I cant paint and I wanted real car paint any way
good luck with that!
