I'm a believer! Nonseq. rules...
Hey everybody...
I haven't been on the forum for a while but I'm back! Just wanted to drop a note for anybody considering the nonseq. conversion. I spent a day doing the poor man's conversion and engine cleanup and it made a huge difference. I highly recommend this conversion if your secondary turbo is jacked and you can't figure out why. The power is a little low but once the engine gets spooling, it's power all the way! Just wanted to say thanks to all of the guys that gave advice in the nonseq threads and big props for spyfish007 for the killer blockoff plate kit (I finally installed all of it!). I have seen the light! If anybody needs advice or convincing, let me know!

I bought a pack of blockoff plates about a year back... egr, double throttle, acv, aws... I must say it looks great... I do have a rougher idle though after the whole conversion... Any thoughts 7-sins? I know you did the conversion awhile back and your preaching was one of my prime motivations for doing it! Any ideas on how to steady my idle out? I'm running a catback, DP, intake and I'm still running my airpump , but the idle doesn't get better or worse with it. I put my double throttle back in thinking it was that, but it still idles rough. everything else works great though. TIA...

Here we go!
Ive always avoided these threads cuz I didnt think it cld be a 'safe' mod. Can someone convince me otherwise?
Will the stock turbos have a shorter life?
Will they run hotter?
Clarify the rats nest ordeal (cuz that was a dreaded job I was looking to do in the near future w/ silicone hoses....will I NOT need to do that if I go non seq?)
What kinda boost are you NON seq guys running?
And just overall gimme the specifics of WHY this is the way to go.

The first thing I had dave at kdrotary do back in January of 1999 after I bought my R1 was the silicone hose job. Haven't had a boost problem at all

real easy go to my site www.dontbearikki.com and go to the how to and it will take 40 minutes tops no longer....
Ulator, all the stuff you blocked off looks to be dealing with the intake... one of those could have caused it besides double throttle. Non-seq will have a different tone but shouldn't be that rough. Maybe it is the back pressure with the cat. Have you tried playing with your idle screw?
Oh yeah, it is very "boomy" sounding now, but depends on your exhaust.
The last step(working on the actuators under the pressure tank) can be confusing with the text vs. the photo, so ask the Rikki-man or 7-sins.

I've been non-sequential for over a year and I remember when I converted Dave at KDR had only done about 6 of them and loved it. Everybody but a handful on the forum was against it - I was like whatever. The car does run like a single turbo and they won't heat up quite as much as the sequentials. With more space under the hood (no rat's nest of vacuum lines, the solenoid rack, actuators) the car is able to run a little cooler. Your turbos should last longer since there is no sudden blast in power on the second turbo while if your a city driver with sequential, the primary would be mostly used creating a lot of unnecessary heat. Lag is a little noticeable below 3K. The stock twins spool up at 2800 rpms where non-seq has full boost by 3200-3900 rpms depending on the car and mods. Transition in a sequential car is between 4.5K and 5K when the secondary comes online so a non-sequential car will have a lot more midrange power advantage since BOTH turbos are online for atleast a full 1000 rpms before the sequential setup. Simple, powerful, proven results. It's definitely worth it.

Only difference with the PFC is that you need to switch the Seq mode off. After that the PFC will then control the Turbo Pre-Control as it were the Wastegate solenoid, thats why you must switch those lines when using the PFC.
Ok I have a question for some of you.
What is the performance difference in the full non seq and the poor mans non seq. When you remove the "door" will it help spool the turbos faster versus leaving the "door" in tact???
Thanks,
STEPHEN
