ignition coil confusion

So I've got the trailing plug wires sorted out. The trailing coils are on their correct side. But, the FSM is a little too vague on the leading coil. The bottom connection goes to the front rotor and the top connection goes to the rear rotor. Is this correct?

And, as an aside, why are the trailing plugs hogging 2 coils when the leading plugs only get one? Seems counter intuitive to me.

Thankyou a bunch
Dave.
