Unhappy Idling bad and running rich

Hey guys... been having an issue now for a few weeks, trying to sort it in the brief moments of time between work and sleep...

My car is running stupid rich... so rich in fact, I can't actually say the car runs.

My mods-

intake
full exhaust, no cats
full emissions delete
intercooler
non seq twins
850 primaries with a properly modified rail- they seat very nicely.
1200 secondaries
aeromotive 340 stealth fuel pump
brand new fuel filter
set of 9's for plugs
ngk wires
apexi power fc with commander and data logit
innovate mtx wideband
AEM tru boost

I think that about covers it...

Now... once upon a time, the car idled fairly well with the 850 primaries. I followed the writeup somewhere on here about basically tricking the ecu to use less of the injector so it will idle decent enough. It was working. Then I bought the data logit, uploaded a basemap, and everything went to $hit. So, I found someone to write a basemap for my car, for my mods, and by all accounts it looked pretty decent, just going off of numbers anyway. uploaded the tune, and it still wont even hold idle, it's just so rich. I pulled my plugs after this, they were wet with fuel. So I cleaned them, put them back in, and it ran for maybe 60 seconds. AFR was reading 7.4

So... I am going to go back out there in the morning and reset everything, see if I can get the PFC to think it has smaller injectors, see if I can't get the car to idle at least...

but in the mean time, does anyone here have any possible ideas/suggestions to offer? If I can't get this problem sorted, I'm likely just going to chuck the car... I work for too many hours at a very risky job to justify throwing my money away like this. I like the car... I really do... But I'm also not in the mood for wasting several thousands of dollars, and at this point, it's starting to feel that way.

What are your all your values in the injector box on settings 5 page of FC edit? What is your base fuel pressure?

Why not just get the car tuned?

Should be lots of tuners in CA

You could also consider joining the Power FC Yahoo tunning group. Lots of good info and tuning specific help there.

How confident are you that the injector o-rings aren't leaking?
850cc primaries will always idle rich with a PowerFC as that ecu will only let you get so low on the duty cycle, but that is my setup and it still idles very nicely.

I did just have to replace all my injector o-rings because a couple got to leaking so bad the car would only idle on one rotor.

Fairly positive they aren't leaking... but, is there a way I can check to make sure?

Hey buuuuuddyy.

To OP: Sounds to me like you're still using side feed rails from your injector choices. 850 primaries on a PFC is a recipe for...well, not disaster, but annoyance (especially in CA). To get the car at least running find a reputable tuner that wont just make you a base map but will actually tune your car. To get your car running well, swap over to a known top feed rail setup like Full Function Engineering and get newer, non drilled, or otherwise crappy injectors like an ID or some other EV14 variant. Good luck.

I will go check the values, but I am running just stock fuel pressure... no fpr

There are a few tuners, but they are many, many hours south. Like... 6+hours away.

You know guys....

Before I had this issue of the car not starting, I would get occasional idle surging, almost like the AWP was intact on my car...which it is not. Kinda figured, and had been told it was likely the TPS on its way out... now, could this sudden onslaught of flooding be another symptom of a bd TPS?

Use sensor check on the commander to check your TPS voltages.

... Its plain and simply a tunning issue ..try and self tune it so its lean enough to be driven to a tuner . also I doubt hte car idled at 14.7 Most FD's idle in the high 12's to low 13's . above that they start to break up because of overlap .

Good luck , Also . did you not save your previous map before you uploaded a new one ?

Always save your previous map . just in case .

I never said the car idled at 14.7....

Also, at this point, I'm very skeptical about it being a tuning issue. It ran fine. ..mostly, on the power fc base map, which I reset it to...did you even read my original message? Lol

Well if you just reset it to the base map then its not setup correctly for 850cc primaries. Can you verify TPS voltages are correct and post what you have on the settings 5 tab of fc edit? Did your emissions delete remove the IAC valve?

the base map is ment to run on 550 and you STILL have to adjust it for different cars

So running 800 antiquated injectors . is not going to be fun for the stock map ,

As for the guy who sent you that tune . he can guesstimate what the car may need .

BUT heck .. if thats the case nevermind the car is just broken you should sell it for scrap since thats what its running like =)

i'll take it off your hands . no wait pay me to take it off your lot tow trucks are expensive now N days !

how about you do something different .. and crazy... change those clumsy 800 CC injectors with oem 550's , with the 1200 secondaries they are good enough for about 350 whp . when you can upgrade all of the injectors with some modern top feeds that are not as clumsy as the 800's and can idle right .

So, this is what my tps is reading I guess. I just turned it full on, but obviously not started. Is this good bad or average reading?
