Idle is unsteady after cold start
Idle is unsteady after cold start
I got the engine running today, but the idle is unsteady up until it runs a while, and then it settles to a normal idle. I'm wondering if it has to do with the EGR valve. In the unsteady period (about 3-4 minutes), I hear "clicks" especially if I goose the throttle. Also the "check" warning light is on (which apparently is indication that the EGR valve has not deployed). The steady idle seems to start when this light finally goes out. Does this point to a bad EGR valve?
I also hear a "groaning" sound when I goose the throttle, between 2000-3000 rpm. It might related to air intake. I don't think it's exhaust. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks - Tom
