Idle and sensors

Hi I have a single turbo bridge setup with a power FC & Commander
it has some strange idle issues where it is set on the commander at 900rmp and yet it will idle at 2000 then drop to 1500 and stay like that for ages then when it choses randomly it will go down to the 900RPM

What I want to know is if I remove the Idle speed control would that fix it.
I have removed most of the emmisions stuff as I don't need to comply in New Zealand

Does anyone have a good link to a step by step guide as what can be removed etc

Cheers

I found that my idle air control (mounts on the back side of the UIM) is sticking open at times. On my car this shows up as a high/sticking idle speed (~1,100) and as a tendancy for a slight over-rev when you push in the clutch to shift. In my case, temporarily switching the A/C on and then off will usullay drop the idle to the correct RPM, where it sets rock-solid and happy until I rev the motor again.

To test you can use long needle nose pliers temporarily unplugging the connector to the IAC and then test drive the car. Idle should now set right on the RPM controlled by the air bypass screw. This is usually lower than normal, say 500~600 RPM. Unfortunitly, turing on the hedlights, A/C, turning the steering wheel, or anything else that would normally cause the idle to rise/adjust will no longer have this desired effect.

I took the IAC off and about, but there wasn't anything I could find to 'repair'. A new unit is about $260; which is why I haven't replaced mine yet. If your problem is the IAC, it sounds worse than mine.

You may also need to adjust the idle air bleed screw - PowerFC's typically have loping idle issues unless it's adjusted a bit. Might need to do some reading in the PowerFC forum on this one.
