Idle question..Sensor or what?

I have a problem with my FD that I was wondering if you guys could diagnose...

When I pull up at a stop light, with the car in neutral, the idle is fine. However, when I shift the car into first, the car kind of stumbles. The idle drops and then immediately recovers.

Sometimes the idle even recovers, then drops and again, and repeats that pattern. Kind of like the car is hunting for the correct idle. The car doesn't ever stall, but it is annoying.

Any ideas on this? It seems like a bad sensor to me. Maybe the ISC?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Later,
Patrick

Have you messed around with the upper intake manifold lately? If so, loosen the bolts a little, especially the ones that hold the throttle cable in place.

Also, are the plugs old? If so, it's time to replace them.

A few bottles of fuel injection cleaner would also help. Sometimes the problem returns when the cleaner is gone though.

Lastly, you may want to dial in the idle speed a little by adjusting the idle screw. Don't do this unless you ground the TEN and GND terminals in the diagnostic port. Idle shouldn't need too much adjustment though unless someone messed it up before.
