idle problems :-(

I have a problem with my 3rd gen when idle. The engine does not run smoothly and almost stalls but then recoveres and there is a lot of movement being displayed on the boost gauge even though the car is in idle and it dosnt sound right. car is sounding more like a train sort of pulsaating and the boost guage is very irratic. Is this a problem with the spark plugs ie need changing or is this bad news something much worse.

Can anybody help me out before i go down to the auto shop so that at least they wont be able to rip me off. (im from the united Kingdom and we always getting ripped off over here)

Thanks guys in advanced.

I have a hks boost guage, WS induction kit, recirculating dump valves and an APEXI back box. everything else is pretty standard accept bomex body kit and ap racing wheels.

Could be your gaskets. I had the same prob a while ago, tho i didnt have a boost gauge at the time, the other symptoms sound the same.

sounds more like bad news than anything else. the symptoms you describe sound like a bad apex seal. the cheap and easy way to determine this is to do a compression check.

there are so many things it could be, its mind boggling. in anycase, what rpm are you idling at? what vaccum are you pulling at idle? when did this start and what have you checked so far.

those should get you started
