Clutch swith is a small unit that's spring activated and sits on top of clutch pedal. When you depress clutch, it sends a signal to the ECU so it can adjust idle.

did you put on a light weight fly wheel? that could cause the problem. if not clutch switch is a choice but i would keep it simple first check the three requirements are you getting air fuel and spark when you come to a stop chances are yes you are then go to your idelign system check your dash pot make sure it didnt come loose and change its setting, also check for a vacume leak all of your ideling controls are controlled buy a vacume actuated switch\control.

lol i know what the clutch switch is and how it works....but what i dont know is what they control. i thought that they only disengaged the cruise control and stopped the car from starting while in gear.

the car does have a lightened flywheel but i havent heard of it causing an issue on the fd like on some other cars. that was actually my first thought but i was assured from a very reputable rx7 tuner that it likely wasnt the issue. the car does not have either of the clutch switches in it so im guessing that this could be the source of the problem.

thanks for the input guys
