Idle issue with brake applied

After the car has warmed up I get an erratic idle and my vacuum drops and jumps between 10-12Hg when the brakes are applied and it runs very rich. If I let off the brakes the idle will return to normal after a few seconds. Sadly this has been going on for awhile and a year ago I tested the brake sensor under the dash and it appeared ok. I'll test it again but I have a suspicion that it will be fine at least according to the specs in the shop manual. I need to check again to see if it only does it when there is an electrical load but I know it's worse when the AC is on.

Any other ideas of what to check?

I have been looking for this problem for a couple years now and honestly am at a lost. I am guessing it is electrical since that will be the most difficult thing for me to figure out.

Thanks

Did you do a check on the check valve for the brake booster?

I haven't checked it since I ran all new hoses a few years ago. I'll check again.

Did this problem start right after you did the hoses ? ? ? I didn't realize there was a one way check valve in the rubber hose from the brake power booster to the metal line on the fire wall and had a weird idle, and strange things under boost and when I went to stop. If you changed that hose and don't have the check valve in there this could be your problem.
