IL Idle issue...

So its been a long----long time since I owned a Rotary.... I currently own a 2011 Evo X GSR, and miss the rotary so badly. Ok, enought of the crying, lol. Here is my problem...

My friend just currently purchased a white 1993 Rx7 Touring, with 99 spec front and rear conversion. Car is beatiful and runs great under throttle.

But when it comes to a complete stop, if the engine is revved freely the car will drop idle stumble and die. Then it will not start immediately after, only after it has been left alone for 3-5 min.

Car drives smooth, idles smooth, turbos kick on smooth, temperature stays slightly below half at all times, oil pressure is 30 at idle and kicks up to 60-70 while driving under heavier throttle.

I will be taking his car to Bonsai Racing in Indiana as soon as I can, but figures I would post here just to get some opinions. I will post some pics of the car soon,*Eye Candy* :P .

He pulled the trigger and bought the car without me checking it out first.... The previous owner claimed the compression tester reads 85-90 on all the rotor faces, and has 3 even wooshes..... I will be checking this for myself on thursday. He says the car used to have a Power FC commander, and it was taken off and stock ECU was put back in..... I could not understand to much since he is from Korea and does not speak much english, but either way seemed like a nice guy.

*BTW.... Where is the fuel pump relay fuse? on the FD? thanks..

there was an excellent thread by arghx on idle issues...do a search under his name and check for the idle control threads....but check the dashpot and make sure it is not gummed up and contacting the throttlebody linkage properly...you can also try turning out the idle screw a bit...

i also had a similar problem and it turned out that debris was clogging up a primary injector and was causing stalling when the engine returns to idle...

Thanks ImamurA, what is the *Dashpot*?Thanks.

I also considered that maybe the throttle might need cleaning?

I will search for arghx's threads.

And yeah... It ONLY, happens at idle, and if it does stall, its so hard to get it to start.... I have to really play with the gas pedal gently to get it to start up.... Im guessing throttle.
