Idle Air Control Valve Question

With the IAC valve if I unplug it will it default open or closed?

Also I read somewhere that it works with AWS and if you remove AWS you need to place a resistor on it to keep the IAC from staying open all the time. Any truth to this, and what might be some of the symptoms if the IAC was staying open all the time?

Thanks,
Kyle

no, AWS has nothing to do with IAC...no resistor needed

probably stay shut since its a motor that allows air to bypass the throttle plates...

if the IAC was stuck open, your idle would be high, like a vaccum leak

if the IAC was stuck closed, your car's idle would suffer, when your turn on headlights, A/C, or any heavy electrical load.

you need it, if you want your car to idle like a normal car.

Thanks Dubulup.

I had removed it with a block off kit, but I put it back on the other night.

Still having problems with idle and hesitation past 4k, just wanted to make sure this wasn't attributed.

Tweaked my TPS this morning to the 1.0 and .4 settings and it cleaned up some of my problems but the hesistation is still there...
