Ideas for my exhaust?

I am not too sure what to do about my exhaust. I am running a apexi n1 dual with nothing behind it in other words its straight piped. Its too loud and raspy but not sure if i would need a resonator or a muffler? if anyone could give me some ideas on what i should do , that would be great!

What level of 'noise' are you comfortable with? Have you ever had the car with anything other than what it has now, for comparison?
Just to be clear, you have a downpipe off the engine and then...nothing at all between that and the N1 Dual?
I'll BET it is loud, lol!

I had the car all stock with a hks twin turbo downpipe and the apexi exhaust with the stock cat , and I still felt like I wanted it a little louder lol. I don't mind if its loud , just hate how raspy it is too lol just wanna quiet it down a bit. Yup lol when I went single turbo I made a downpipe and installed a non resonated mid pipe so pretty much straight piped now. Maybe I'll give what they recommended above a try !

When you say magna flow. Do you mean by adding a magnaflow resonator to my existing mid pipe ?

So I wouldn't need a muffler ? Just a resonator ? Didn't think a resonator would do much

Resonator takes out high frequency waves (rasp) which the N1 dual has a lot of because of the small muffler canister diameter.

Straight through muffler will work the same as resonator and knock off some decibels as well as mellow the tone.

To be clear, you are looking for a resonator/muffler with as large a diameter as you can fit to lower the tone of the exhaust note.

Okay gotcha thanks ! I guess I'll figure out which one I'm going to do.

I recently made my own resonated mid pipe. It made the exhaust much more bareable and took out a lot of the drone while driving

Skip to the end (18:00) for a sound comparison at idle

Thanks for attaching the video! That has me thinking. How does it sound driving ? Do you have any videos of you revving it ?

I don't have any of me revving the car. 2500 rpm and under is very bearable (city and back road cruising). 3000 rpm and up is still loud but you won't go deaf anymore. The resonated mid pipe takes out a lot of the drone when you're driving.

I used to get a headache when I first got the car and it was straight piped. I'd drive for 30-60 mins and my head would be buzzing. Since I made the RMP, I've driven it a bunch and have not gotten a headache. Went on a 3-4 hour drive with the RMP and, when I got back, I head was not buzzing and I did not have a headache.

Resonator up front, straight through muffler out back. Job done. Get local exhaust shop to do it if you aren't inclined to grovel around under the car with a welding mask on. Just get good quality mufflers and reso's. Rotaries eat cheap ones.

Apex'i duals = worst sounding loud exhaust ever. Apex'i with a straight pipe... on man my condolences lol

As others have said just get the magnaflow resonated midpipe because it really does make a world of difference. After installing it if you still find that you hate it, then it is time to change your exhaust. Back when I had twins I rolled with the a magnaflow resonated MP + RB duals and it was perfect for me. Deep grumble at idle, non raspy, non droning at freeway speeds, but a whole different animal at WOT (loud but good loud). But I have a feeling that may be a little too civilized for your taste.

I agree with this- had a local FD with the N1 Duals around for ages.

I really like how deep the FD exhaust tone can be without rasp using a single 3.5-4" exhaust with big diameter midpipe and mufflers.

But, I kind of like the rasp on NA rotaries. It makes them sound less lazy. Like you can tell part throttle from full throttle by sound (because you can't by rate of acceleration).
