Hey Kam, sorry to hear that..... both your collusion and the govt ****.....

I am living in Ontario, similar by-law here too. Couple year ago, my friend knocked off a light post, and the bill was $8K (CAD). Since we dont have something like ICBC in BC, so the insurance company had to pay his bill....... and his insurance went up like a rocket......

Good luck, dude

Never heard of that before. I know that if you smash up signs and light posts in Winnipeg it doesnt cost you anything. How much is the sign?

Isn't that what your car insurance is for? Doesn't your collision insurance cover that (buildings/signs/property/people/animals etc).

Good luck with that.

Why don't you turn it around and sue them for having the sign located in a bad place where people could possibly hit it. Turn the tables around.

Good luck

you have to go through ICBC for basic coverage, everyone needs it. you can use direct for the higher coveridges. you might save a tiny bit. but I'm sure it would be a hassle if you need to claim stuff. (as in take longer to get stuff fixed) I'm sticking with ICBC.

and kam, just park the car!, it sounds like your rad is toast so just leave it alone or you will cause more damage. deal with the city stuff so icbc will take it. if you claim the damage though insurance they should pay for the other damages too, I don't understand what the problem is here. then get it towed to an icbc place to fix it. if the damage is high why are you bothering trying to fix some yourself?

just keep in mind if the damage is under $4-5k, it'll be cheaper to fix it yourself and not use insurance, as you'll lose more then that over the next 5-10 years if you'll be driving and insuring a car since your rates will be much higer. however you would need the $$ now upfront, instead of slowly paying if off over the next 5-10 years.
