I Wrecked My Car!!!!!! Need Advice

Hey guys it was raining real hard the other day and I slid off in a small ditch. It didnt really do much damage, only a small dent in the drivers side of the bumper. However, I think the ins is going to get me a new bumper!!!!!

Here is the cool part, I've become pretty good buds with the guy that manages the shop. He is into sport cars and I've taken alot of vehicles to him over the years as he fixes our company vehicles. Anyway, he told me to let him know what kind of bumper I want and he will order it and I can just pay the difference between that one and a Mazda OEM that the ins is estimating for.

WHAT FROM BUMPER SHOULD I GET??????

I dont want anything real flashy, I like the sleeper kinda look and dont want to get to Hondaish or anything like that. Somethine pretty tame. My car is shown in my sig....its Montago Blue

Please find me some pics

Oh yea, i need to know in about 2 days or sooner

Later and Thanks,

Actually I like this knightsport bumper better

http://www.rxecret7.com/ks-02.html

or this pfs bumper which looks very similar, but cheaper and w/o the crazy shipping costs:

http://www.pfsupercars.com/bdypags/rx7/exstyling.html

The only other bumpers that I like are the ones that cost like $3,000 cause you have to import them from Japan

$1700

$950. These lights can be purchased in clear.

$850-1300

This is an awesome site for you http://www.takakaira.com/

If it was up to me I would go with the C-Westin front or the first pic. You have a perfect opportunity to get a new front bumper. Please don't waste it by getting the factory front bumper.

What should I look for in terms of materials???? I have no idea? The amount of $ I spend kinda depends on how much they alot for a OEM bumper. I dont want to spend a whole lot over that. I'm buying a new house and its hurting my cash flow!!! Damn what a bad time to buy a house...hehe

I like that Peter Ferrel one even though I'm not a fan of him, the KnightSport link had a nice one as well....the 2 are very similar.

I think the feed front ends are a little much for me.....especially since I have the stock wheels, its just would look right and I cant afford new wheels anytime soon as all the ones I like are way too much $$$

I do like the J-Spec also!!!!

Is there a quality or fitment difference between the '99 J-Spec, Peter Ferrel, and Knight Sport??? If not which one is cheaper???

I'm pretty new to this as body upgrades are not really my thing.

Thanks for all the help guys!!!!!! Keep the advise coming

HEHE, your not going to believe this but everytime you sent that link the forum went down and I lost the PM. I was saving that last PM you sent with the link and which ones to buy but it went down the tubes with the forum about a week after you sent it.

I never get any but I've been to busy to worry with it.

To answer your question, no it didnt bust my headlight but I do still need some good bulbs though

Later,

Materials -- URETHANE. It's flexible and that's important. The factory front end is urethane ... fiberglass fronts can eventually crack from stress (they're rigid) and the paint can also crack for the same reason.

99 J-Spec will fit the best without question. It's a factory front and that says it all ... plus it's urethane. The KnightSports would be second, and the PFS POS very very last.

I personally like the C-west N1 front bumper... it's got foglight mounts like the 99 spec, and it has a huge inlet should you ever decide to get a FMIC... not to mention, the styling is nice and clean, almost agressive. The only setback is it's pretty expensive.

I say get a 99' jspec, urethane pefect fit etc. IMO any other front end doesn't look good unless you are adding other body pieces.

Thanks a ton guys!!!!!!

I think I'm going to go with the 99 front end. I think it will work the best since I have the stock wheels. It add some flare without being overkill. I like most of the other bumpers but think they are a little overkill since I have the stock wheels. To bad I dont have an extra 2-3K for some new wheels/tires.

Where do you think is the best place to get the 99 Spec front end with the signal lights, RX7store.com sells the complete kit w/fog lights for $1250. I might skip on the for lights since they add like $400, if it doesnt look good without them i can always add them later. The "complete kit" also includes rebar.....do I need that???

You guys know of a better/cheaper place

you can always paint / powdercoat your wheels for a different look and keep eye out for wheel deals but you get this one shot at the front end more than likely.

FEED!

Does anyone know if the 99 actually comes with that ugly tag holder???? If so how easy is it to remove, I dont need a front tag in AL.

Also, what are those 2 blue sections sticking up right under the tag holder section???

Thanks

Yeah, they are available without the front liscense plate holder. You should check with Jason at www.rx7store.net , because I think he can get them like that. But just in case he can't you can check with www.pettitracing.com and they have them with out the front liscense plate holder. Here are a couple pics of one without the holder..

I know you messed up your front bumper, but if you need the driver side airbag, I have one for sale.

The 99' spec has the licsence holder as part of the front end so it can't be removed. Pettit make a copy without the holder but it's made out of fiberglass.

What do you guys think about getting the 99 Spec without the fog lights??? I really like the fog lights but for $400 they seem a little steep (i'm trying to buy a new house)

I know if i dont get the fogs now I'll prob never get them.

How do you think the 99 Spec looks without the fogs???

Damn, decisions decisions

Thanks,
