Unhappy I waz under my FD the other day......

...Just finishing up my fuel filter 'hell' job ,about to slide out from under the car and I notice these two electrical connectors disconnected up by the gearbox, so I thought oh well i'll reconnect them sweet as.
I was driving home from work today and a cop pulls me up, WTF? he comes to my drivers side window " evening sir, are you aware your reverse lights are constantly illuminated?'.

dumass

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about here, but it sounds like the reverse lights were disconnected by someone because the reverse-light switch was malfunctioning, causing the reverse lights to always be on. Do the reverse lights still work as intended in reverse now that that connector is unplugged?

Possible...however given that the connectors only have 1 mate there ,..it isn't to hard to figure out. They only plug in 1 way The only way any othere 2 fit together are the 2 switches on the tranny have similar plugs that fit eachother. But that is 2 switches being hooked together which should be obvious when you are under the car

I'll go witrh a bad switch being disconnected before you got the car.

well I've unplugged the connector and my reverse lights work fine ( only when I reverse) but they stay on constantly when I connect them. I think I'll leave them disconnected, no dramas.

I don't think you are quiet understanding me, the connectors do not matter they only fit on one plug (ie they are all different on the tranny harness). The switches themselves are interchangeable and all have the same thread pattern . So like I said originally I would bet that your switches are reversed.

Do you have a PFC? The reverse and neutral switches are in the sensor check screen IIRC.
