There's too much R&R that goes into making a car wheel out of C/F, so that puts off a lot of companies. The price of carbon fiber also fluctuates greatly, especially as of late with Airbus, Boeing, and the US military buying up a bunch of it, so I would imagine that advertising such rims at a set price for any amount of time would be rather hard.
I work in the aerospace composites business as a Mech Engr / Program Manager and everything you said is 100% correct. For the past 3 years our company has looked numerous times at making 100% carbon fiber wheels and there is a TON of risk and liability involved with it. Too much to make it really worthwhile right now. While Dymag has a carbon rim, it's not ALLl carbon. only the spokes and hub secton are carbon. The rim portion is still metallic. While it's not a 100% all carbon rim, for a number of reasons, their approach is very practical when compared to an all carbon design.

Looking at the 360Forged rims, they are very nice but as you pointed out, yes, they are just a carbon overlay on top of an aluminum/steel substrate.

Carbon wheels should only be used on a track, hit one pavement or mount one kerb wrongly, it will fracture or crack ur wheel and demolish ur wallet.

They wil increase ur HP and torque readings on a dyno and u will prob feel a difference driving it too. I race bikes and just putting different weight tyres on bikes changes HP and torque readings.
But I would definately restrict use of CF wheels to the track only!

To be honest, I wouldn't use them on a track, either. The penalty for having one break catastrophically (and w/ CF, that's what they are likely to do) is much higher on a track, due to the probability of failure happening at very high speed in a high-G corner. With most metal wheels, a careful inspection is likely to detect an incipient failure. Not necessarily so with CF.

Actually, it's the other way around.. The rim is carbon fiber and the spokes are magnesium > http://www.dymag.com/index2_e.html

and in these pics, they don't look half bad on the eclipse here

Ugh. Just spend money on engine upgrades and stick with the stock wheels. They're light enough.

Uhhhhh.....owned.....Thanks.

I don't know why I was thinking that they were the other way around for some reason. WTF? Thanks for catching that.
