There is a lot of great information on this web site. You need to do some research. Most people will not answer this type of question since it tells us that you did not read about this car. It would take while to go into detail. Try the search by putting in reliability upgrades and such.

As far as engines go, they just require a little more attention than a piston engine. Checking the oil level 2 months after every oil change should be mandatory since the rotary engine by design mixes some of the oil with the intake air to help lubricate the apex seals. adding a little 2 stroke oil to the gas tank every fill up on cars after 89 (electronic oil metering pump) helps as well. As far as reliability, my 80 model rx-7 had 212,000 mile on it and it was running fine when I sold it. The 91 I have now as my daily driver has 90+ on it and runs great. And my 93 which I've had for 7 years, modified for 5 of those years, making 320+ rwhp is running fine. It just take a little more patience and careful tuning if you add mods to it. Hope it helps

Take care of the engine especially well and it will take care of you. Don't let the misinformed or the horror stories from people who do not realize the proper care that HAS go into maintaining this wondeful engine spoil you on the rotary world.
