I wanna ask a boost question too!
I wanna ask a boost question too!
Actually, mines fairly simple, didn't seem covered in my searches....
Simply, I went to non-seq when I did my engine swap, to try to keep wear&tear down on the turbo's, and I had the system set-up so the wastegate stays open all the time, and so I"m at 6-7 psi... no worries there....
however....
I'm getting a midpipe hear soon, so I will have a full-free-flowing exhaust....
now, my boost question....
will a manual boost controller be sufficient to keep the boost from spiking, even if I set the boost back to the stock 10? or am I going to have to buy an electronic controller?
thnx....
and thank you for not setting me ablaze!

If you've gone non-seq, then you shouldn't have a problem with boost spike, since there's no more transition between turbos.
Boost creep at high rpms could be a problem, however, since the exhaust flow could overpower the stock wastegate. Every car is different, especially with the differing mods of every car out there.

Cool.... well couldn't hurt to try at least... I'm still on the stock airbox, and no other mod's cept exhaust.... I don't spend too much time at the top, and I always watch my gauge.....
my cat's clogged as all poo.... and I'm moving back to montana, so no need for money spent on cat..... cost effective! plus when I do get up top, I'd like a little more umph!
I did the non-seq conversion. You should consider an aftermarket ECU before you throw in the midpipe. The midpipe is a significant change. You need to get rid of that stock airbox and let that rotory breathe.

The problem is that with an open intake and open exhaust, you may get boost creep -- which cannot be controlled by a boost controller. If it occurs, it can only eliminated/reduced by porting the wastegate or adding a restrictor plate back into the exhaust.
Too many people on here treat a midpipe like it's just another bolt-on, when in fact, it is actually a pretty serious modification.
